ABOUT SYP

(pronounced SEEP)

I'm originally a native from Rochester, NY and decided to transplant myself to San Diego, CA because CALIFORNIA. :) My B.S. in Computer Science from Rochester Institute of Technology landed me my first full-time job as a software engineer developing geospatial intelligence tools. Along the way, I discovered the exciting field of User Experience and pursued my M.S. in Human-Computer Interaction from the Carnegie Mellon | Portugal dual-degree program. It was probably the best decision of my life, not to mention the fact that I got to live on beautiful Madeira Island for almost a year!

With now five years of research & design experience and running my own startup (Live Offline), I am constantly looking to grow and collaborate with other folks passionate about:

  • helping our society detach from our phones

  • influencing women pursuing STEM careers

  • teaching / leading design workshops

  • startups in San Diego

Outside of my projects, you can find me at a hip-hop or Zumba dance class, traveling the world in search of the best eats, or sipping on a spicy Bloody Mary while people watching in Pacific Beach.
